Carrot Addicts? What's Up, Doc?

Was Bugs Bunny a carrot junkie? Possibly. A Czechoslovakianresearcher has reported that eating raw carrots can be addictive.

In the current issue of the British Journal of Addiction, LudekCerny described three people addicted to carrots, including a35-year-old woman attending a psychiatric clinic in Prague who atemore than two pounds of raw carrots a day.

Another woman was so obsessed with having enough carrots thatshe preserved the peelings as a reserve supply. And a 40-year-oldman started eating up to five bunches a day after he quit cigarettesmoking, the Czech researcher reported. Once the man quit the carrothabit, he returned to smoking.
