Fed: Same responsibility for balancing family belonged with men
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD says the responsibility for balancing working families belongsto men as much as women.
Mr HOWARD says it's not the role of the government to tell families how to operate,but he's told the federal liberal women's conference that running a family is a sharedresponsibility.
Mr HOWARD says the question of whether one or both parents should work is up to them.
But he says it's his responsibility as prime minister to create a climate where they'reassisted and facilitated in whatever choice they make.
He says recent employment figures showing the strength of the Australian economy alsotell a story of expanding opportunities for women.
